Top of the mountain!!!

The above is one of the many ways to spend your birthday morning.

35000 ft flying in the air, 500 km riding on the road, 4 beaches until suntan, 1 much-needed holiday… this was a few years ago when I took on an early morning road trip on my birthday. Reaching one particular spot, devoid of human activity, I sat on this tiny block on the top of the mountain while observing the many other such mountainous formations.

To all my non-Indian fans (which is about more than 90%), and to those who always wonder what my name Girish Rathna actually means –

The word Girish is a coalescence of two different words – Giri and Ish. Stemming from the ancient language of Sanskrit, from which most Indian languages originated, Giri literally means a mountain, and Ish means God.

The word Rathna means precious stone. So the name Girish Rathna means – God of the mountain or Lord of the mountain who is as precious as a precious stone or something like that.

Maybe that’s why I gravitate to mountains.
